An Abundance of Hope
Starved for time? Not enough money to quit your job to write? Fearful you won’t come up with an idea for your next scene? Think it would be so much easier to throw in the proverbial towel?
Yeah, you and me both. They’re constant natterings in my head. And, of course, wholly unhelpful. Real, valid, understandable, but not conducive to creativity.
What to do?
Reframe your worries from a scarcity mentality to an abundance mentality.
When we think scarcity, we think negativity. Not enough time, not enough ideas, not enough money, not enough skill, not enough, not enough, not enough.
It’s anxiety-inducing, right?
Abundance mentality flips the script. Given that the world isn’t ending tomorrow, there will be time. Given that your job is important for your financial well-being, it’s a good thing you have an income. Given that you came up with one idea, there must be more in your head.
It’s not easy, I know. But if you can only write for 10 minutes one day, you know there will be another 10 minutes another day. If you have only a couple of bucks to invest in your writing, maybe you can put aside a couple of more bucks next pay cheque. If you have only one idea now, another will come later.
In other words, if we can get that damn anxiety gremlin off our backs, we’ll have more creative capacity.
I have an abundant amount of faith you can do it.
